Doggie Vacation
Have you ever taken your pets on a vacation with you?
I recently took my two dogs with me for a quick getaway up to Santa Barbara (about a two hour drive north of LA). Eli loves to stick his head out of the window when we drive, but the freeway was just too fast (he didn't understand this). We stayed in a "dog friendly" hotel called the Fess Parker's Doubletree Resort - which we all now highly recommend...
Fess Parker was the actor who played Daniel Boone and Davy Crockett and it seems he got into the hotel and wine business in Santa Barbara...
The ocean was right across the street...lots of great places to walk...new smells for the boys...and the hotel rooms were really nice. Two sections of the hotel are dog friendly, and I was expecting them to be a bit more rough around the edges, especially the rooms. Nope, they were spotless. Although I'm not sure how they got into the minibar....
The BEST part was the dog beach about 10 minutes up the coast...
Arroyo Burro Beach is a MUST see if you bring your dog (or are a dog lover) to Santa Barbara.
We even found a cave...Eli ventured in and told us there wasn't anything worth seeing...
We did a decent job tiring Aubry out...not always an easy task...
The funny part was the LONG staircase we had to climb when we left...this was dramatic for Eli who went on strike in the middle...
For more dog beach adventures...here is a video for your viewing pleasure...
